Chapters I-IV Questions.

Chapter I: Give an example or two about situations in which you are "...attending to universal issues and withdrawing...attention from the stream of immediate sense experiences" (Lewis, 2).
There was this one time where I was supposed to be doing my laundry. I had everything ready to be put into the washing machine. However, before I could go down the stairs, I somehow got distracted and ended up sitting in front of my computer for about an hour. And the basket of laundry was just sitting next to me on my worktable.

Chapter II: What do you think about the following quote? "The Enemy allows this disappointment to occur on the threshold of every human endeavour" (Lewis, 7).
I think that this quote is saying that the enemy (God) lets bad things occur to a person. Although He has the power to control everything, He allows evil to happen to people in order to teach them a lesson and draw them closer to Him. He wants them to turn to Him through these trials. However, this does not always happen right away and could even further the distance between God and man if the heart is hardened.
Chapter II: What are your thoughts on church? Is it something you “do” every week?
I think that church is very important. A church can be a physical building. However, I think a more accurate description would be a gathering of God loving people that want to learn more about God and worship Him. I do go to church every Sunday morning. However, since it is the morning, I'm not entirely focused and awake.

Chapter III: What are your "daily pinpricks" (Lewis, 11)?
I still find the microwave beeping annoying. I also can't stand it when my cats get into my stuff and messes things up. One of my cats is able to somehow get into my closet and sleep on my clothes and leaves cat hair everywhere. Another one, which lives outside, likes to climb on my car and sleeps on the roof. That's alright with me, but the part that bothers me is that I find tiny paw prints on my windshield. And to make it worse, they are in the corner where the wipers don't reach!

Chapter III: Give an example or two of situations in which you have neglected the obvious (Lewis, 12).
I once had to drive to school at around 6 in the morning for robotics. I was tired since it was early, so I parked my car and didn't realize that I left my headlights on. I didn't realize that I did this until 6 hours later when I went to take a quick nap. And I didn't even realize that my car battery was dead until I tried to turn on my car to check the time. Thankfully my dad was there to jump start my car. And I was also almost out of gas so it was kind of worrisome driving home.

Some Thoughts on the Second Day

1. Honestly, I am still not the best at writing. The only time I write is for school. I still believe that writing is an important skill for everyone to have. It helps organize, displays ideas, and gets the mind working. I learned a lot last year about writing, and I hope that this year I would learn more and get better.

2. I enjoy reading a lot. However, I still don't read too much biography or historical books. Another summer went by, and I barely read any books. Most of my reading is still for school. I want to read, but I get so easily distracted by the world that I just drift away from reading. Hopefully this would change this year since there is yet another interesting reading list for class again.

3. I like and dislike technology. I like it because it helps getting information easier and faster. As I mentioned in question two, I spend a lot of time on the computer. I haven’t played too much with other game systems for about two years. I am also in the schools robotics team and that uses a lot of technology. However, sometimes I dislike it because there are still many problems with technology and also our world is corrupt. Yet, technology is used every day to assist in schools, work, and everyday entertainment. My opinion on technology hasn't changed much from last year. I find technology to still have so many problems and is frustrating dealing with it sometimes.

4. Learning is important for everyone. We are all constantly learning new things every day. We learn through all five of our senses. However, the main three that we use are sight, hearing, and touch. I think that I could adjust to any form of teaching, but I do best with audio and visual learning. I honestly don’t really like to learn but if I enjoy the class, I would find it easier to focus and be more open to what is being taught. I do believe that we have to learn in order to succeed in life. I also want to add that we have to have a growth mindset to teaching in order to actually learn. You have to be willing to get out of your "comfort" zone and try new things to advance in life.

5. I want to take this class because I took Honors British Literature last year and I really enjoyed it. I feel that I'm more comfortable with this class setting. I still have the same understanding from last year that it would be a challenge and would take a lot of time and motivation to do the work.
